Modern parenting comes with unique challenges, particularly when it comes to governing your children’s digital interactions. This is where the mSpy App Blocker becomes a great asset because it offers a mix of control and privacy in relation to digital parenting. Learning about this feature opened my eyes to how many different approaches I could take to manage the apps that my kids use.

How mSpy app blocker works: a closer look

mSpy’s App Blocker operates differently across Android and iOS platforms:

  • On the Android platform, it requires administrator rights so that apps can be blocked by their package names for fine-tuned controls; this runs at the background without disrupting user-experience.
  • In case of iOS devices, mSpy uses built-in content restrictions that allow remote configuration via iCloud which is less intrusive.

The range of control: what apps can you block?

The expansiveness of mSpy’s App Blocker can be seen through its wide reach on Android that involves social media, gaming, messaging among many other activities. Even some system apps can be restricted, though this might require rooting to work properly.

Apple Store apps can be blocked by iOS users but only within a limited range due to inherent iOS-related constraints.

Setting up and managing the app blocker

Blocking of apps is easy and this can be done via these steps:

  1. Sign in to your mSpy account.
  2. Go to ‘Blocked Applications’ on the dashboard under the RESTRICTIONS category.
  3. Choose the apps that you want to block.

Unblocking involves a similar process which offers flexibility in managing app permissions. I believe that this can be an advantage for us parents as it allows us to adapt restrictions as our children grow or when certain circumstances occur.

Is mSpy app blocker free?

Take note that the App Blocker feature is only available through mSpy’s paid subscription plans, which means it's not free to use.

Pros and cons: a balanced view of the app blocking feature

Pros

  • Huge Control: You can adjust application access according to your child’s age and levels of maturity.
  • Stealthiness: Works without visible monitoring indications.
  • User-Friendly: Offers easy configuration and administration.

Cons

  • Subscription Charges: Requires you to have a paid subscription to use the feature.
  • Device Compatibility: Efficiency rates vary between Androids and iPhones.
  • Technical Installation: May be hard for those who are not tech-savvy parents.
  • Device Performance: Battery life may drain faster and cause the device to run slowly.
