By the very nature of the ephemeral messaging feature of Snapchat, I decided to use mSpy in order to understand its working. This was a demystification process by mSpy against Snapchat’s “self-destructing” message mechanism.

The main attraction of Snapchat is the promise that text messages disappear after viewing which makes it difficult for any monitoring tool. My first experience using Mspy made me more conscious about these limitations.

I discovered that there was an opportunity to intercept them if before they ended up missing, MSpy was able to synchronize with the snapchat app. But this competition was time bound as it required precise timing thus putting pressure on me.

 

Frequency of Sync and Its Impact

The role played by data syncing rates that are practiced by MSpy cannot be underestimated. Therefore, in my thinking lower frequency sync will result into lesser probability of capturing these transient messages unlike in real time monitoring systems which one can easily fall into their operational constraints.

In some cases, however, Mspy would send me notifications about alerts on new messages sent through snap chat but unfortunately what they contained still remained a mystery because they had already been deleted from the system.. Though I did not have all the details I wanted, this kind of half monitoring served a purpose.

 

Alternative But Indirect Methods

Nevertheless, there are a few ways that MSpy might indirectly help you gather information about disappearing Snapchat messages:

  • Screen Recorder Feature: A possibility of taking the phone’s screen shots can be done through this feature at regular intervals to capture any disappearing texts before they disappear. However, use of this feature could result in battery drain as well as use a lot of data storage.
  • Keyword Alerts: Use keyword alerts on the app to notify you when specific words are used in notifications or app activities. This could indicate indirectly that a chat with disappearing messages was opened but not what it said.
  • Keylogger Functionality: The tool comes with a keylogger that records all keystrokes on the device. Possibly, it may catch the text of these self destroying messages as they’re being written.

 

The Bottom Line

My journey into snapchat and mSpy went hand in hand with striking the right balance at every stage. As much I wanted my child safe online, I had to know that snapchat had its own restrictions because technology was concerned.

While the mSpy Snapchat monitoring tool has some advantages, its ability to track disappearing messages is inherently limited by the nature of the app itself. Therefore, this taught me why I should have realistic expectation with regards to monitoring tools.
